Tucson Arizona Police Seeking the Public Assistance in Murder of 6 Year Old

Tucson Police in Search for Man that Murdered a 6 Year Old

By: Joseph L. Giacalone

In the early morning of October 10, 2007, six year old Analissa Monares-Leon was asleep on the couch in her family's home when a number of shots were fired through the front door. Analissa was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her wounds. Police believe there is a narcotic nexus to the drive-by-shooting, however, the six (6) year old was an unintended victim.

Police do not know if a shooting that occurred hours earlier in front of the house had any connection to the murder. In that incident, witnesses state that a man emerged from an SUV and fired at another individual. This incident went previously unreported by witnesses or other neighbors. Unfortunately, the neighborhood and it's residents say shootings are common on the block.

There have been a number of incidents in and around the 2200 block of West Dakota Avenue, including the shooting of Analissa's cousin six months later.

Anyone with information about these shootings are strongly encouraged to call 88-CRIME, The Pima County Sheriff's Department at 520-351-4600 or submit a tip online anonymously
